Hi,
Post chemo here, my second hair regrowth is white, grey and browish black. How long do you think I leave on dk brown to cover this greyish-white hair? My baby boomer hair hasn’t been black for a while.:) I haven’t tried chemical dyes since my late 40’s and was OK with mixed grey, but this post chemo white-gray is awful.
Help!

I have dry curly almost black hair and have been using organic powder henna for over a year now. The health of my hair improved dramtically, but the process to mix and apply oganic henna powder is an ordeal. As time went on the gray turned to white and became very resistant to the organic henna.. Even using tricks like adding apple cider vingar and black brewed coffee to the mix weren’t working anymore. I was desperate to find a solution that didn’t cause me to sacrifice my commitment to a chemical free lifestyle for the sake of my vanity. I tried Surya Brasil Henna Creme this weekend and am pleased so far. I had to mix Mahogony with black to get the color I wanted on the white hair. Will keep you posted.

Dear Jenna,

I have used Surya Henna for several years and can assure you your hair just gets better and better. I have been greying since age 11 and never wanted to use toxic dyes. When I found Surya after unsatisfying trials with henna powders it was heaven. I leave it on for as long as I can work around the house all day on Saturday. The result is deeper color. Also I had as section that would not take and a color expert told me to add a “dabber” (color without red) I used Ash Blonde but am thinking of trying Golden Brown as it looks like a dark version of Ash Blonde no red in how it makes blonde hair tint.

Your review of this product has been so helpful, thanks! The thing I’ve been most concerned about is: will it stain my scalp? You said that it temporarily stained it, but it washed out w/shampoo.

Do you mean it washed out when you shampood your hair after applying the henna (right after your 2 hour wait), or over time (shampooing multiple times)?

I wash my hair about 3 times a week…I find I need to reapply every 6 weeks or so! I am glad it worked for you, I love this product!

I used black for the first time yesterday, will leave on longer next time. How often do you have to reapply surya henna ? How often do you wash your hair?
My hair feels great.
